Stanley Foley died from unspecified causes on 16th April, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast. It is not known if he died from wounds or from illness, both of which took their toll of the men on the Western Front. The 1st Royal West Kent battalion was part of 13 Brigade, 5th Division that at the time of his death were holding the line just to the south of Ypres.
